Halfback Sam Wye is on track to make his international debut after being named on the bench for the Flying Fijians’ upcoming Test against Scotland in Suva. Following their narrow 21–18 defeat to Australia last weekend, the Fijian team is eager to secure their first victory in the July Test Series.

Under the guidance of head coach Mick Byrne, Wye’s inclusion in the squad marks a significant opportunity as he aims to become a debutant alongside his teammate Sireli Maqala, who has moved into the starting position at outside centre, having performed impressively in the previous match.

Salesi Rayasi will continue at fullback after a strong debut, while Jiuta Wainiqolo and Kalaveti Ravouvou complete the back three. The halfback pairing of Simione Kuruvoli and Caleb Muntz remains unchanged, ensuring stability in their game strategy.

In the forward pack, Mesake Doge has been promoted to start at tighthead prop, taking the place of Peni Ravai, while Tevita Ikanivere leads the team from hooker. The bench includes Samuela Tawake and Haereti Hetet as additional front-row replacements, with further reinforcements provided by Albert Tuisue and Mesake Vocevoce to cover the rest of the pack. Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula and Vilimoni Botitu provide valuable depth, rounding out the backline options.

The Flying Fijians will face Scotland this Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, with the match set to be broadcast live on FBC’s pay-per-view platform for $30FJD. This encounter is seen as a pivotal point for the team, as they look to bounce back from recent setbacks and showcase their talent on home soil.

The upcoming match holds great significance, highlighting the potential of integrating fresh talent like Wye into the squad, while fostering a sense of hope and enthusiasm among fans for a strong performance on the pitch. Coach Mick Byrne’s strategy reflects a focus on melding experience and youth, promising an exciting display for supporters eager to see the Flying Fijians thrive.
