Waisale Inoke, a rising star in Fijian athletics, has been selected to represent Fiji at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China, scheduled for March 21-23. This selection signifies a pivotal moment in Inoke’s career as he prepares to compete in the 60-meter event, enhancing his already impressive portfolio.

Recently, Inoke had a remarkable indoor season, during which he established a national indoor record in the men’s heptathlon on two occasions. He also recorded an impressive time of 6.88 seconds in the 60 meters, falling just shy of the national indoor record. His accomplishments underscore his status as one of Fiji’s most promising athletes, particularly as a multi-event specialist.

Inoke will join 13 other athletes from the Pacific Islands, all chosen by their respective federations, to form the Oceania team at the World Championships. This prestigious event is set to be fiercely competitive, featuring some of the best athletes globally.

Inoke’s successes mirror the positive momentum within Fijian athletics, especially with fellow competitor Joana Vakasobuduru recently breaking the women’s indoor record for the 200 meters. Together, these talented athletes are laying the groundwork for a brighter sporting future in Fiji.

Inoke’s journey to the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships represents not just a personal accomplishment but also a point of national pride and a source of inspiration for future generations of Fijian athletes. The dedication and hard work exhibited by Inoke and Vakasobuduru highlight the immense potential within Fijian sports, fostering hope for even greater successes on the international stage.
