Waisake Tewa, a 22-year-old sprinter from Team Fiji, has been nominated for the prestigious Sportsman of the Year Award at the upcoming 2024 Fiji Sports Awards. This nomination acknowledges Tewa’s remarkable dedication and exceptional performances throughout the year.

Among his notable achievements, Tewa finished 6th in the 60m event at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Scotland. Additionally, he claimed 1st place in the 200m at the Fiji National Championships and continued his success at the Oceania Invitational by securing 1st place in the 100m finals. At the Oceania Athletics Championships, he contributed to his team’s accomplishments with a 1st place finish in the 4 x 400m relay and a runner-up spot in the 4 x 100m team event. His individual efforts at the Olympic Games also saw him achieve 7th place in the 100m preliminaries.

Tewa’s nomination places him alongside other talented athletes, including Peni Volavola Vuniwaqa, Aminiasi Sarabau, and Ratu Tevita Waranaivalu, all of whom have made significant impacts in their respective sports.

The 2024 Fiji Sports Awards will be broadcast live on FBC Sports this Saturday and will be held at the Vodafone Arena in Suva, marking a celebration of the remarkable achievements within Fiji’s sporting community.
