Netava Vukivuki has made a remarkable achievement by winning the prestigious Best All-Rounder award during the Fiji Corrections Service passing-out ceremony at the Naboro Corrections headquarters. This event celebrated the completion of a 14-week training program that Vukivuki undertook alongside 63 other recruits.
Facing various challenges throughout the rigorous training, Vukivuki stood out by adhering to high standards of values and beliefs. Originally from Narata, Conua, Nadroga, the 33-year-old dedicated himself to self-improvement during this journey. He shared that the process was filled with uncertainties, particularly at the beginning of the recruitment program.
“It was difficult waking up early for training, but thanks to great mentors, I was able to stay focused,” Vukivuki said. He was driven by the responsibility of being the eldest of three siblings, which placed added pressure on him to provide financially for his family. After receiving the award, Vukivuki expressed a sense of relief, stating, “My family relies on me, and I knew securing a job wouldn’t be easy.”
Through determination and prayer, Vukivuki successfully navigated the recruitment process and is now poised to contribute effectively to the corrections system. He expressed a desire to share ideas and insights that would lead to improved outcomes in his future role.
This inspiring narrative resonates with the observations made by Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa, who emphasized the importance of integrity and professionalism in a recent Talanoa session for recruits. Nakarawa encouraged the new officers to embrace the challenges ahead and prioritize their values, ensuring they remain grounded in their duties.
As Vukivuki embarks on his career, his story serves as a testament to the values of perseverance and commitment, spotlighting how hard work can lead to significant accomplishments despite life’s challenges.
