Fiji’s Rising Star: Talei Moodie Set to Shine Against Brazil

Talei Moodie, a talented forward from California State University, has caught the attention of the Fiji Young Kulas coaching staff as the team prepares for their opening match against Brazil in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Moodie arrived in Medellin, Colombia on Wednesday and quickly acclimated to the team environment. Coaches have praised her strong work ethic and ability to adapt both on and off the field.

Assistant Coach Anette Nainima noted, “Talei has shown great promise in training. Her ability to read the game and her willingness to step into any role needed are exactly what we need as we prepare for tough competition like Brazil.”

Expressing her enthusiasm about joining the squad, Moodie said, “I’m really happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can, especially as we head into this important match against Brazil.”

Moodie also reflected on the significance of representing Fiji, stating, “Representing Fiji means I’m not just representing the country, but also my family—my grandparents, my aunts, my uncles, my mom. Growing up in the United States, my mom made sure I was aware of the Fijian culture so I knew where I came from, and I want to feel more connected to my people.”

Her addition is considered a vital boost to the team as they aim to make an impact on the world stage. The Young Kulas will kick off their match against Brazil at 11 am.
