Talented forward Talei Moodie from California State University has caught the attention of the Fiji Young Kulas coaching staff ahead of their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup match against Brazil. Moodie arrived in Medellin, Colombia on Wednesday and has seamlessly blended into the team.

Coaches have praised her strong work ethic and adaptability both on and off the field. Assistant Coach Anette Nainima commented on her potential, highlighting, “Talei has shown great promise in training. Her ability to read the game and her willingness to step into any role needed are exactly what we need as we prepare for tough competition like Brazil.”

Moodie shared her excitement about the experience so far, stating, “I’m really happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can, especially as we head into this important match against Brazil.”

She added, “Representing Fiji means I’m not just representing the country, but also my family—my grandparents, my aunts, my uncles, my mom. Growing up in the United States, my mom made sure I was aware of the Fijian culture so I knew where I came from, and I want to feel more connected to my people.”

Moodie’s presence is expected to enhance the team’s chances as they aim to make a significant impact on the global stage. The Young Kulas will face Brazil in their opening match, set to begin at 11 AM.
