Fiji’s Rising Star: Talei Moodie Joins Young Kulas Ahead of Brazil Showdown

California State University forward Talei Moodie has caught the attention of the coaching staff for the Fiji Young Kulas as they prepare for their FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup opener against Brazil. Moodie arrived in Medellin, Colombia on Wednesday and has quickly been included in the team.

Coaches have praised her strong work ethic and adaptability both on and off the field. Assistant Coach Anette Nainima commented on Moodie’s potential, stating, “Talei has shown great promise in training. Her ability to read the game and her willingness to step into any role needed are exactly what we need as we prepare for tough competition like Brazil.”

Moodie shared her enthusiasm about joining the team, expressing, “I’m really happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team in any way I can, especially as we head into this important match against Brazil.”

She emphasized the significance of representing Fiji, saying, “Representing Fiji means I’m not just representing the country, but also my family—my grandparents, my aunts, my uncles, my mom. Growing up in the United States, my mom made sure I was aware of the Fijian culture so I knew where I came from, and I want to feel more connected to my people.”

Moodie’s inclusion in the team is considered a valuable asset as the Young Kulas aim to leave a lasting impression on the international stage. Their opening match against Brazil is set to kick off at 11 am.
