Fiji’s Rising Star Sets Sights on Brazil in U-20 World Cup Showdown

Talei Moodie, the latest member of the Fiji Young Kulas under-20 team, is filled with pride as she prepares to represent her nation and family ahead of their opening match against Brazil in the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. The 20-year-old forward from California State University, Fullerton, arrived in Medellin, Colombia, on Wednesday and has quickly become part of the team.

Moodie is one of three players from abroad, alongside 15-year-old goalkeeper Aliana Vakaloloma and Preeya Singh. Head coach Angeline Chua has expressed her admiration for Moodie’s intensity and focus during training sessions.

The coaching staff has noted Moodie’s sharp understanding of the game and her readiness to take on various roles for the benefit of the team. Chua remarked, “Talei has shown great promise in training. Her ability to read the game and her willingness to step into any role needed are crucial as we gear up for challenging matches like Brazil.”

Moodie is thrilled about the chance to train with such a dedicated and welcoming team. She is eager to contribute in any way possible, particularly in the upcoming clash against Brazil. “I’m happy to be here and to have the opportunity to train with such a hardworking and welcoming group. I’m looking forward to contributing to the team as we head into this important match against Brazil,” she stated.

The Young Kulas will kick off their first match against Brazil at 11 am today.
