Fiji’s young netball talent, Nina Nakula, continues to seek valuable experience as she prepares for the upcoming Youth World Cup set to take place in Gibraltar later this year. Nakula, who has previously represented the Fiji Pearls, is enthusiastic about competing in the Ruby North Series from April 23 to 28 in Australia, viewing it as an essential step towards her preparation for the global event.
“I look forward to getting the exposure I need, especially facing girls overseas and adapting to the intense high performance level,” said Nakula, emphasizing her commitment to personal and team growth. Her participation in the Ruby North Series will not only challenge her skills on the court but also help her understand different playing styles and intensities expected at the World Cup.
Previously, the Baby Pearls, the under-21 netball team, have engaged in training camps under head coach Simone Nalatu, focusing on building skills and team dynamics before facing tough international competitors. The upcoming series offers a significant opportunity for the team to display their abilities as they prepare for the competition in Gibraltar.
The optimism surrounding Nakula and her teammates reflects the growing recognition of netball in Fiji and the potential for these young athletes to inspire future generations. With a dedication to honing their skills and embracing challenges, there is a supportive environment fostering the growth of netball talent in the region, showcasing a hopeful future for Fijian netball on the international stage.
