Lieutenant Viliame Rigamoto from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) Engineer Regiment has reached a commendable milestone by graduating from the U.S. Army Military Engineer Academy at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He obtained a Diploma in Military Engineering, alongside qualifications to serve as a Company Commander.
In recognition of his hard work and commitment, Lt. Rigamoto received the Best International Student Award, a honor reflecting his exceptional performance throughout the course. He shared that the experience underscored the significance of blending theoretical knowledge with practical application, particularly in leadership roles where sound decision-making is crucial.
“The highlight for me was serving as the Brigade Adjutant during a Brigade Joint Combined Arms Exercise. I could directly apply the theories we learned in class,” he noted, emphasizing that this hands-on experience will be vital as he embraces greater leadership responsibilities within the RFMF.
Expressing gratitude towards both the RFMF and the United States military for the opportunity, Lt. Rigamoto described his time at the academy as a pivotal learning experience. He appreciated the Engineer Captains Career Course, which broadened his understanding and skills relevant to his field.
With a strong academic background, including a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Land Management and a Postgraduate Diploma in Military Strategies and Management, Lt. Rigamoto is well-prepared for the challenges ahead. He dedicated his achievement to his late father, family, and his Christian faith, stating, “This accomplishment is for my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and in memory of my late father. I am grateful to my family for their prayers and support.”
The accomplishments of Lt. Rigamoto are echoed by the recent celebrations of the RFMF, which commemorated the graduation of officers from both the 1/23 Officer Cadet Course and the 1/24 Territorial Officers Bridging Course. These events reflect a growing commitment to developing capable military leaders dedicated to upholding democratic values and national integrity. With Lt.
