Fiji’s Rising Star: A Medical Student’s Journey to Miss Fiji Universe 2024

Prashantika Prasad, a 22-year-old MBBS student at the University of Fiji, is aiming to boost her self-confidence and seize opportunities in the fashion industry as she competes for the Miss Fiji Universe 2024 title in Mexico later this year. As one of ten contestants, Prasad hopes to grow through this unique experience.

“In entering this pageant, I wanted to take advantage of a rare opportunity to enhance my confidence,” she remarked, emphasizing her focus on building self-assurance and taking advantage of available opportunities.

Prasad’s advocacy centers on fostering self-confidence and developing a society that promotes youth empowerment through education while supporting individuals facing mental health challenges and substance addiction. She aspires to complete her medical education to serve as a healthcare provider.

“I have developed a deep respect for the young women who embrace such significant platforms and give their all. The importance of female solidarity has become clear to me as I have learned so much from my fellow contestants,” she stated.

Formerly the deputy head girl at Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College in Nadi, Prasad showcased her musical talent by performing the lead song in her school’s official music video. She is also an accomplished singer, like her father, Shalendra Shambu Prasad, and is an active member of the University of Fiji’s musical band. In addition to her studies, she enjoys playing tennis and participating in community service during medical outreach programs.
