Thomas Setitaia has made significant strides in his rugby career by securing a place in the Fiji U20 squad for the upcoming Oceania Under-20 Rugby Championship. The 20-year-old, who previously showcased his talent with Moana Pasifika in the Super Rugby U20 competition earlier this year, is now focusing on representing his country.

Hailing from Tovu, Totoya in Lau, Setitaia expressed his gratitude at being able to wear the iconic white jersey for the first time. He reflected on this achievement by stating, “This was one of my goals at the start of the year. Playing against the Fiji U20 boys in Taupo was a rewarding experience, and being invited back to join the national squad is an honor.”

Setitaia joined his teammates this week for training, describing the experience as fulfilling and beneficial for establishing strong connections within the team. The Fiji U20 squad is currently in camp, intensely preparing for the tournament set to take place in Nadi next week.

Young athletes like Setitaia embody the emerging talent in Fiji’s rugby landscape, inspiring a new generation to strive for excellence on the international stage. As the preparation for the championship unfolds, there is considerable hope and excitement surrounding his upcoming performances, coupled with the potential for future contributions to Fiji rugby.

In light of Setitaia’s journey and aspirations, his determination to represent his country highlights the resilience and dedication characteristic of Fijian athletes.
