The New England Free Jacks have officially signed Fijian Drua prop Jone Koroiduadua, as confirmed by the club in a statement last Friday. Koroiduadua is expected to significantly enhance the team’s front row as they strive to build upon their recent successes in Major League Rugby (MLR).
The 25-year-old native of Nalebaleba, Nadroga, has been with the Drua since their inaugural season in 2022, following a two-year stint with Clermont in the French Top 14. He was also part of the Drua squad in 2019.
The club’s statement highlighted Koroiduadua as one of Fiji’s emerging rugby stars, noting that he will add a unique level of strength and physicality to the Free Jacks’ scrum. With over 20 appearances for the Fijian Drua throughout three seasons of Super Rugby Pacific and two caps for the Flying Fijians—including participation in the 2023 Rugby World Cup—his experience is considerable.
Koroiduadua has played for Nadroga in the Skipper Cup and has a history representing the national Under-20 team. The Free Jacks emphasized his reputation as a formidable scrummager on either side, playing a key role in the successful Fijian Drua scrum in the previous Super Rugby Pacific season. Weighing 255 lbs, he is recognized for his athleticism and effectiveness in collisions, whether he has the ball or not, making him a valuable asset for the Free Jacks’ forward pack.
The Free Jacks have also secured another international signing for the season, New Zealand lock Sam Caird.
