Fiji’s emerging talents in Aerobic Gymnastics have made their way to Melbourne to participate in the esteemed Oceania Gymnastics Union AER Continental Camp, scheduled from December 8 to 11 in Bendigo. This event brings together some of the region’s most promising athletes competing in Levels 9 and 10 of the Australian Levels Program, as well as Youth, Junior, and Senior International divisions.
The Fijian delegation includes notable athletes such as Robyn Eastgate (Senior AER International), Lauren Pilla (Youth AER International), Ayden Akbar and Kesaia Sivo (Future Youth Internationals for 2027), along with Siegede Luzuriaga and Jemesa Lau (Future Youth Internationals for 2028). They are guided by coach Josie Maraya Ryland.
The athletes earned their spots at the camp based on recommendations from Deborah Greenbaum, the Oceania Technical Director and development expert. During her visits to Fiji in 2024 and 2025, she recognized a pool of young talent with the potential to shine on the international stage.
At the camp, the Fijian team will have the opportunity to train with a distinguished group of world-class coaches, including Greenbaum, who is a twelve-time Australian champion; Matteo Guerrini, a French national coach; Balasz Farkas, a former Hungarian national athlete and multiple gold medalist; and Antonio Papazov, a four-time world champion from Bulgaria.
The Gymnastics Federation of Fiji expresses gratitude to the Oceania Gymnastics Union for their support, emphasizing that this camp provides an invaluable opportunity for young gymnasts to enhance their skills, experience global competition, and prepare for future events. The Federation also notes that the dedication displayed by these athletes reflects the growing momentum of Aerobic Gymnastics in Fiji, hoping to inspire even more young individuals to pursue the sport with enthusiasm and determination.
