The Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) has reported a remarkable revenue collection of $1.169 billion between August and November 2024, exceeding predictions by $178 million. This achievement is largely attributed to strong performance across key economic sectors, along with effective compliance initiatives implemented by FRCS.
In detail, the monthly revenue collections were as follows: in August, $291.9 million was collected, surpassing forecasts by $53.5 million; September saw $290.9 million, exceeding expectations by $8.6 million; October registered $300.0 million, outperforming the forecast by $24 million; and November brought in $286.5 million, which was $18.9 million above the estimated figures.
Looking ahead, FRCS CEO Udit Singh expressed optimism that December 2024 revenue projections, along with those for subsequent months, will maintain this upward trend. This positive outlook reflects not only the resilience of Fiji’s economy but also the efficacy of the actions taken by FRCS to enhance compliance and collection efforts.
In summary, FRCS’s stellar collection results over the last four months highlight a flourishing economy and effective governance. As Fiji continues to thrive, the sustained revenue growth may play a crucial role in funding essential public services and infrastructure development. This development is certainly a hopeful sign for the country’s economic future.
