The Fiji National Disaster Risk Management Office has reported that a total of 1,518 individuals are currently residing in 58 evacuation centers across Fiji. This response follows recent adverse conditions affecting the country, with the majority of evacuees located in the Northern, Eastern, and Central Divisions.
In the Northern Division alone, 1,202 Fijians are taking shelter in 38 centers. Meanwhile, 294 evacuees have found refuge in 19 centers located in the Eastern Division. The Central Division accommodates 22 individuals in a single evacuation center.
The NDMO emphasizes that ensuring public safety is a top priority, coordinating closely with the Fiji Police and other agencies to guarantee the safety and support of all evacuees.
