Fiji weightlifter Taniela Rainibogi has set his sights firmly on winning a gold medal at the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. After achieving a bronze medal in the men’s 96kg event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, Rainibogi is determined to elevate his performance and reach the pinnacle of the podium this time around.
“I want gold this time around,” Rainibogi declared, signaling his ambitious intentions. His dedication is evident in his rigorous training regimen, which has been ongoing since December of last year. “Preparations have been going well; that shows the focus I’m in and the aim to achieve my goal,” he added.
Despite encountering setbacks, including injuries that necessitated rest, Rainibogi’s commitment to his training has not wavered. Currently, he is participating in a six-week training camp in Samoa, which serves as an essential component of his preparation for the games.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 2, and Rainibogi’s aspirations reflect not only his personal goals but also the spirit of competition that drives athletes to strive for excellence. With focused training and resilience, Rainibogi is on a promising path toward potential success at the games.
