Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has called on Fijians to embrace peace, compassion, and unity during this Christmas season, emphasizing the importance of maintaining Fiji’s reputation as a beacon of harmony in both the Pacific region and the globe. In his Christmas message, Mr. Rabuka celebrated Fiji’s rich diversity in cultures, faiths, and traditions, stating, “Fiji has long been admired for its harmony among diverse cultures, faiths and traditions.” He urged everyone to protect this legacy and to act as advocates for peace and collaboration.
The Prime Minister encouraged families and communities to support one another, particularly those in need. “Let us be instruments of peace and kindness this Christmas,” he said, stressing the importance of reaching out to friends, neighbors, or family members who might be struggling and offering assistance.
In light of ongoing global tensions, Mr. Rabuka reminded citizens that Fiji must stay committed to dialogue, respect, and goodwill. He expressed a vision for the future that is filled with hope, asserting, “I remain hopeful and confident that better opportunities and growth lie before us.” The Prime Minister highlighted the potential for unity, hard work, and resilience to drive economic progress and create meaningful opportunities for the youth of Fiji.
Quoting from the Sermon on the Mount, he underscored the significance of peace, proclaiming, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God… Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be filled.”
In closing, Mr. Rabuka shared festive greetings, wishing families across Fiji and abroad a joyful Christmas and a peaceful, healthy, and prosperous New Year. “May God bless you all — and may God bless Fiji,” he concluded, fostering a spirit of hope and unity as the nation moves forward into the new year.
