The Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs and Sugar, Charan Jeath Singh, has reaffirmed the Government’s dedication to ensuring that communities outside of the indigenous iTaukei population are included in development programs.
During his inaugural official visit to Ovalau, Mr. Singh engaged with various ethnic groups, including Solomon Islanders, Ni-Vanuatu, and Indo-Fijians, in Levuka, expressing the Government’s firm vision and resolve to foster progress.
He emphasized that one of the Government’s key aims is to provide equitable development opportunities for all ethnic communities in Fiji.
“The Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs has been reestablished after a 16-year hiatus with a renewed purpose to reconnect and ensure equal development prospects for all ethnic groups in Fiji, acknowledging their collective contributions to the nation’s progress,” he stated.
Mr. Singh assured the communities that the Government is committed to advancing the interests of every ethnic group through ministries that implement community development initiatives.
He also addressed the significant challenges faced by these communities and presented the strategic goals of his ministry aimed at enhancing inclusivity and collaboration among Fiji’s diverse population.
