In his New Year’s address, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka shared heartfelt wishes for a prosperous 2025, encouraging the people of Fiji to embrace unity, hope, and resilience as they navigate the future together.

Rabuka marked 2025 as a significant year for Fiji, coinciding with the nation’s 55th anniversary of independence, referred to as the Emerald Jubilee. He urged citizens to look back on 2024, a year characterized by resilience, and to draw inspiration from the progress made while remaining mindful of the challenges that lie ahead.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for civil servants, first responders, and the defense forces for their unwavering commitment throughout the past year. He also acknowledged the contributions of Fiji’s international missions to the nation’s global reputation.

In light of the political challenges faced in recent years, Rabuka stressed the importance of the government’s efforts toward healing and reconciliation, particularly through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. He believes this initiative is crucial for fostering forgiveness and national unity.

Furthermore, poverty alleviation emerged as a primary focus, with the government pursuing a “one village at a time” strategy aimed at enhancing the livelihoods of all Fijians. The Coalition Government has also laid out plans for substantial investments in housing, sanitation, and infrastructure to create a robust foundation for long-term economic and social development.

This New Year’s message not only sets a hopeful tone for 2025 but demonstrates a clear commitment to building a united and resilient Fiji for generations to come. The government’s proactive measures and focus on community engagement reflect a hopeful path forward, inspiring optimism across the nation.
