Fiji’s Prime Minister Visit: Media Controversy Sparks Diplomatic Praise

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed appreciation to the New Zealand Government for its effective coordination of arrangements for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka’s visit. This statement follows instances where some media outlets employed racist stereotypes regarding the two New Zealanders assigned to the Prime Minister’s security detail.

Fiji’s High Commission in New Zealand clarified that these individuals were part of a larger team representing diverse segments of New Zealand society. They commended the professionalism, transparency, and meticulousness of the security personnel.

The High Commission also emphasized that all members of the security detail for the Prime Minister were supplied by the New Zealand Government, noting that the visit occurred without any incidents, despite some adjustments to the schedule.
