In his New Year’s address to the nation, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka expressed heartfelt wishes for a successful 2025, urging the people of Fiji to embrace unity, hope, and resilience as they navigate the upcoming challenges. He emphasized that 2025 would be a significant year, marking Fiji’s 55th independence anniversary, known as the Emerald Jubilee.

Looking back on 2024, which he referred to as a year showcasing resilience, Rabuka encouraged citizens to reflect on the nation’s achievements while preparing for future obstacles. He acknowledged the hard work of civil servants, first responders, and defense forces for their unwavering commitment over the past year, along with recognizing the contributions of Fiji’s international missions to enhance the nation’s global reputation.

Given the political challenges in recent years, Rabuka underscored the government’s dedication to healing and reconciliation through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. He regards this initiative as crucial for promoting forgiveness and national unity.

In addition, poverty alleviation remains a key focus, with the government pursuing a “one village at a time” strategy to enhance the living conditions of citizens. The Coalition Government has initiated various projects aimed at significant investments in housing, sanitation, and infrastructure, laying the groundwork for sustainable economic and social development.

This optimistic message sets a hopeful tone for the year ahead, inviting Fijians to come together for collective progress. By prioritizing unity and resilience, there is a sense of shared purpose that can drive the nation toward a brighter future.
