Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to embark on a 10-day official visit to China beginning Monday. This marks his first trip to China since assuming office in December 2022.

Mao Ning, a spokeswoman for China’s Foreign Ministry, stated that the visit will foster in-depth discussions between leaders from both nations on significant issues of mutual interest.

This year, China has welcomed several leaders from Pacific Island nations, and Rabuka’s visit underscores the strong ties between China and the South Pacific region. Mao expressed China’s ambition to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership with Fiji and collaborate in building a closer community with a shared future for both China and the Pacific Island nations.

Fiji was the first Pacific Island country to establish diplomatic relations with China.
