Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to embark on a 10-day official visit to China beginning Monday. This marks his first trip to China since he assumed office in December 2022.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated that during the visit, the leaders of the two nations will engage in substantial discussions regarding key issues of mutual interest. Rabuka’s visit follows a series of engagements this year between China and leaders of Pacific Island countries, highlighting the strong ties between China and the South Pacific region.

Mao expressed China’s intention to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership with Fiji and to collaborate in building an even closer community with a shared future among China and Pacific Island nations. Notably, Fiji was the first Pacific Island country to establish diplomatic relations with China.
