Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to embark on a 10-day official visit to China beginning on Monday. This marks his inaugural trip to the country since he assumed office in December 2022.
According to Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, the visit will provide an opportunity for leaders from both nations to engage in detailed discussions regarding significant mutual interests. This year, China has already hosted several leaders from Pacific Island nations, and Rabuka’s upcoming visit underscores the strong ties between China and the South Pacific region.
Mao expressed China’s desire to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership with Fiji and collaborate on building a more robust community with a shared future between China and Pacific Island countries. Notably, Fiji was the first Pacific Island nation to establish diplomatic relations with China.
