This week, the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort will host the much-anticipated annual Sheraton Golf Classic, set against the spectacular backdrop of Fiji’s championship golf courses. This event, noted as Fiji’s premier golfing affair, draws golfers, partners, and golf enthusiasts from around the globe, blending world-class competition with the idyllic Pacific setting.
Participants will compete at notable golf destinations including Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course and the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club over four rounds. With a notable professional prize pot exceeding FJD 145,000, this tournament is touted as the largest of its kind in Fiji, attracting a diverse mix of both professional and amateur golfers from Australia, New Zealand, and further afield.
The tournament format emphasizes teamwork, with each team comprising one professional and three amateurs, focusing on both Stableford and Gross formats, alongside individual contests for both amateurs and professionals.
Neeraj Chadha, Area General Manager & Vice President of Pacific Islands for Marriott International, expressed his enthusiasm, noting, “We are grateful to Richard Ellis and the Pacific Golf Team for their continued partnership for over a decade in bringing this tournament to our shores. We look forward to welcoming all returning players and supporters, including new participants, for a week filled with exciting golf.” He highlighted how the Sheraton Golf Classic goes beyond showcasing elite golfing talent; it serves as a significant driver for tourism and community engagement, bolstering Fiji’s reputation as a top destination for international sporting events.
Kicking off with a cocktail reception on June 3rd at The Denarau Golf & Racquet Club, the event will culminate in a Final Night Gala & Prize Giving Ceremony on June 7th at the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort’s stunning oceanfront venue, Sandy Point.
Participants can look forward to an engaging week filled with competitive rounds, social events, and the warm hospitality Fiji is known for, all while enjoying the breathtaking scenery of Denarau Island.
