Fiji’s Powerlifting Team Readies for Epic Showdown in Nauru

The Fiji Powerlifting Federation has announced a formidable 10-member team for the Oceania Regional Powerlifting Championships 2014, scheduled to take place in Nauru from October 30 to November 2. This confirmation was made by Federation President Viliame Lagonilakeba.

The squad comprises six athletes and four officials. Lagonilakeba emphasized the challenges ahead, noting that competing in Nauru will be difficult due to the country’s strong powerlifting tradition and the presence of several world champions, which makes Nauru one of the most formidable powerlifting nations globally.

He expressed confidence in the athletes, stating that they are well-prepared and eager to test their strength and skills against top competitors in the region.

The Fiji team includes the following athletes:
– Vivaan Patel – Men’s sub-junior U83kg
– Vinesh Chand – Men’s Open U74kg
– Faga Varea – Men’s Open U93kg
– Muzammil Ali – Men’s Open U120kg
– Kurt Wise – Men’s Open U120kg (captain)

The officials supporting the team are:
– Eric Jioje – Head coach (Non-traveling)
– Ryan Bale (Non-traveling)
– Salacieli Koroi – Assistant coach (Traveling)
– Jessa May Banchod – Team manager/doctor (Traveling)
