The Electoral Commission of Fiji (ECF) convened today in its quasi-judicial role to review the appeal lodged by Opposition MP Alvick Maharaj regarding the Registrar of Political Parties’ decision to deregister the Fiji First Party, a move made on July 1, 2024.

ECF Chair Barbara Malimali indicated that the review process is currently in motion and emphasized that the Commission looks forward to releasing its decision in due course.

Malimali requested the public’s understanding and patience during this period, stating, “We trust the public of Fiji will understand this need for discretion, and be patient.”
