Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has called upon the Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) to resolve its internal conflicts before aiming for success in the 2026 General Election. During SODELPA’s Annual General Meeting held last Friday, party leader Aseri Radrodro reiterated the aim of achieving an outright majority in the upcoming elections. Radrodro mentioned the party’s intent to devise strategies focused on unity and solidarity to accomplish this goal.
In a response to SODELPA’s ambitions, Mr. Rabuka remarked that overcoming the issues stemming from his removal as their leader would be crucial for their success. As leader of the People’s Alliance party (PAP), which also aspires to secure a majority in the 2026 elections, Rabuka’s comments emphasize the significance of internal harmony within political parties.
Adding to the positive sentiment, Minister for Sugar and Multi-Ethnic Affairs, Charan Jeath Singh, expressed confidence in the PAP’s ability to win in the next election. He emphasized their aim to continue their governance for another two terms, building on the coalition formed with SODELPA and the National Federation Party after the recent elections.
The political landscape in Fiji is shaping up to be very dynamic as both major parties strive to connect with constituents and establish effective strategies. SODELPA, focusing on grassroots initiatives aimed at enhancing education equity and economic self-sufficiency, appears to be proactively addressing voter concerns. This engagement and strategic planning may foster a hopeful and transformational impact on governance in Fiji as the parties prepare for the electoral challenge ahead.
As both SODELPA and the PAP put forth their plans, there’s a clear opportunity for meaningful exchanges that promote collaboration and address the electorate’s aspirations, potentially shaping a brighter future for the nation.
