Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu recently announced plans to discuss a review of the Counter Narcotics Bureau with Minister for Policing Ioane Naivalurua in an upcoming meeting. During his monthly press conference, Commissioner Tudravu expressed his concern, stating he has taken measures to ensure accountability by directing the constable involved to be suspended without pay.
Tudravu acknowledged that while the bureau has a crucial mandate to combat the narcotics problem, an evaluation of its operations is necessary for improvement. He indicated that restoring public trust in the police force is not an overnight process and emphasized the need for significant effort to change the negative perceptions that have developed over time. “Trust the process and believe that we will hold our officers accountable,” he urged the public.
