Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is scheduled to embark on a 10-day official visit to China beginning on Monday. This will mark his inaugural trip to China since he assumed office in December 2022.
According to a statement from Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, the visit will facilitate in-depth discussions between the leaders of the two nations regarding significant shared concerns.
This year, China has welcomed several leaders from Pacific Island nations, and Rabuka’s visit underscores the strong ties between China and the South Pacific region. Mao expressed that China aims to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership with Fiji and collaborate to foster an even closer community with a shared future between China and the Pacific Island countries.
Fiji holds the distinction of being the first Pacific Island nation to establish diplomatic relations with China.
