Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka announced that the cabinet will present a document regarding the ‘Investigation’ or ‘Commission of Inquiry’ related to the allegations made by former Deputy Commissioner of FICAC, Francis Puleiwai.

In a media briefing, Rabuka indicated that the document outlines the ‘Terms of Reference’ and sets objectives for the Commission members for cabinet consideration. He emphasized that the situation reflects on the credibility of the Government and its institutions, which requires urgent attention.

Rabuka acknowledged that while the past cannot be changed, the Government is committed to ensuring that such actions do not occur again. He stated, “If anyone has violated orders, laws, or regulations, they will face the appropriate consequences.”

When asked about Puleiwai’s claims of being targeted by government agents, the Prime Minister asserted that such actions would not originate from his administration. He encouraged Puleiwai to report any threats to her safety to the Police if she feels uneasy in Fiji and expressed that she would be welcome to return to the country.

Rabuka referenced that a report concerning these allegations was retracted by ABC, raising questions about the credibility of Puleiwai’s assertions. He concluded by assuring all Fijians of their safety in the country.
