Fiji’s PM Set for Landmark Visit to China: What’s on the Agenda?

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to embark on a 10-day official visit to China starting Monday. This trip marks his first visit to the country since he assumed office in December 2022.

Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning announced that the visit will allow for in-depth discussions between leaders from both nations on significant issues of mutual interest.

This year, China has hosted several leaders from Pacific Island countries, and Rabuka’s visit will continue to highlight the strong relations between China and the South Pacific region. Mao expressed that China aims to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership with Fiji and collaborate on building a closer community with a shared future involving China and Pacific Island nations.

Fiji holds the distinction of being the first Pacific Island country to establish diplomatic relations with China.
