Fiji’s PM Heads to China: A Diplomatic Journey Begins

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is set to make an official visit to China starting Monday, according to a confirmation from China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The leaders of both nations are expected to engage in comprehensive discussions regarding the bilateral relations between China and Fiji, along with other significant issues of mutual interest.

China aims to elevate its comprehensive strategic partnership with Fiji, centered on mutual respect and shared development. The visit is intended to foster a tighter community between China and Pacific Island nations, enhancing collaboration and understanding.

Fiji was the first Pacific Island nation to establish diplomatic relations with China. Over the past 49 years, these relations have expanded, resulting in significant achievements in cooperation and exchanges across various sectors, ultimately benefiting the citizens of both countries.

This visit comes at the invitation of Li Qiang, the Premier of the State Council of China.
