Fiji’s PM Celebrates Strong Ties with Japan at PALM 10 Summit

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka expressed gratitude towards the Japanese Government and its citizens for their successful dialogue over the years, particularly during the recent PALM 10 Summit held in Tokyo.

In his ministerial statement to Parliament, Mr. Rabuka characterized his meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as both successful and productive. During their discussions, Prime Minister Kishida reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the bonds of “kizuna” between Japan, Fiji, and other Pacific Island nations.

Mr. Rabuka also noted his engaging discussion with Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, the chairman of JICA, focusing on ongoing development cooperation. He emphasized the respectful and courteous nature of the Japanese people, highlighting its positive influence on the Fijian community residing in Japan.

“This Fijian group living overseas exemplifies courtesy, and the culture of respect prevalent among the Japanese has left a significant impact on them,” Mr. Rabuka stated.
