On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC), led by Lieutenant Colonel (Lt-Col) Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operation (CSO OPS) of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.
During his introductory remarks, Lt-Col Koro welcomed the Batt 43 PDT members and highlighted Fiji’s crucial role in the global pursuit of stability and peace, underscoring the significance of the pre-deployment training for their mission.
“You will carry the values of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent,” Lt-Col Koro stated. He added, “Our history in peacekeeping is well-established, marked by examples of bravery and dedication.”
He urged the participants to cultivate strong relationships and foster a sense of cooperation and solidarity throughout their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let us build connections during our training that will enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he said.
Lt-Col Koro encouraged participants to engage with the training with curiosity, openness, and a willingness to learn. He concluded by advising them to work closely together and to always demonstrate good judgment, prudence, and a commitment to the values of peace.
