Fiji’s Peacekeepers Gear Up for Critical Mission

On Monday, August 26, the Multinational Force and Observer (MFO) Batt 43 Pre-Deployment Training (PDT) officially commenced at the Joint Task Force Command (JTFC). The event was led by Lieutenant Colonel Saula Koro, Chief Staff Officer Operations of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces.

In his opening address, Lt-Col Koro welcomed the members of Batt 43 PDT and highlighted Fiji’s important role in the global efforts for stability and peace, underscoring the significance of their training ahead of the mission.

“You carry the values of our beloved Fiji—compassion, cooperation, and resilience—as you serve as part of the 43-member Fijian contingent,” Lt-Col Koro remarked. He noted Fiji’s extensive history in peacekeeping, marked by acts of bravery and dedication.

He encouraged the participants to build strong connections and foster teamwork during their deployment. “As peace ambassadors, let’s cultivate relationships during our training that will enhance your effectiveness in the field,” he said.

Lt-Col Koro urged all attendees to engage in the training with curiosity, openness, and a readiness to learn. He concluded by advising them to collaborate closely, exercise sound judgment, and commit to upholding the principles of peace throughout their training and deployment.
