In his New Year’s address, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka conveyed heartfelt wishes for a thriving 2025, encouraging Fijians to embrace unity, hope, and resilience as the nation progresses. He emphasized the significance of 2025, marking the 55th anniversary of Fiji’s independence, also known as the Emerald Jubilee.

Rabuka reflected on the year 2024 as a time of resilience and urged citizens to draw inspiration from the nation’s achievements while preparing for upcoming challenges. He expressed appreciation for the dedication of civil servants, first responders, and defense forces over the past year, as well as recognition for Fiji’s international missions contributing to the country’s standing on the global stage.

Addressing the recent political upheavals, Rabuka reiterated the government’s commitment to healing and reconciliation through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, deemed essential for fostering forgiveness and national unity. Furthermore, he identified poverty alleviation as a key focus, outlining a “one village at a time” strategy to enhance livelihoods.

The Prime Minister highlighted the Coalition Government’s initiatives, which include significant investments in housing, sanitation, and infrastructure, aimed at establishing a strong foundation for sustainable economic and social growth.
