Fiji’s Path to Freedom: A New Dawn for Democracy

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad has stated that the current Government fulfilled its commitment to restore freedom for the people of Fiji by ending the oppressive regime of two individuals.

During the National Federation Party’s Annual Convention, Professor Prasad emphasized the Government’s focus on rebuilding a democratic and accountable governance system in Fiji. He highlighted the party’s pledge to eliminate fear and intimidation while also committing to listening and consulting with the public.

He urged party members to support this crucial process and to continue backing the Government’s efforts to improve the nation.

Professor Prasad noted the National Federation Party’s longstanding presence in Fijian politics, stating, “We are Fiji’s oldest political party. We have endured through challenges while other, even more powerful, parties have disappeared.”

He expressed the party’s unity driven by a shared love for Fiji and a commitment to its improvement, advocating for values of unity and peace. He emphasized the importance of helping those in need to enhance their living conditions, stating that the party has worked for decades to reach a point where it can provide honest and compassionate leadership, ultimately making Fiji stronger and more resilient.

He concluded by reiterating the party’s goal of creating a better, more equitable, and fair society in Fiji.
