Fiji’s Path to Democracy: A New Era of Hope and Unity

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad has stated that the current Government has fulfilled its commitment to restore freedom to the people of Fiji by ending the oppressive rule of two leaders.

Addressing the National Federation Party Annual Convention, Prof Prasad emphasized that the Government is dedicated to rebuilding a democratic and accountable administration in Fiji.

He highlighted the party’s promise to eliminate fear and intimidation while also pledging to engage in dialogue and consultation with the community.

Prof Prasad urged party members to support this ongoing process and to continue backing the Government’s efforts to improve conditions in Fiji.

“Our party is the oldest political party in Fiji. We have endured challenges while other parties, even the most influential, have disappeared,” he remarked.

He pointed out that the survival of the party is rooted in shared beliefs, stating, “We are united by our love for Fiji and our desire to contribute to its progress. We advocate for unity and peace and strive to uplift the most disadvantaged among us to improve their lives. We have worked for decades towards this opportunity to govern, where we can provide authentic and compassionate leadership, making Fiji stronger, better, and more resilient.”

Prof Prasad concluded by expressing the party’s vision for a better Fiji, one characterized by equality and fairness.
