Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew has instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Crime to initiate preliminary investigations regarding the unauthorized issuance of passports to individuals associated with the Grace Road Group. This inquiry aims to establish whether the Fiji Police Force or the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption will take the lead in the investigation process.

In light of the situation, Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration Pio Tikoduadua has expressed his intention to temporarily step aside to facilitate the investigation. He is currently awaiting guidance from the Prime Minister after informing him of his decision.
