Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew has instructed the Assistant Commissioner of Police for Crime to initiate preliminary investigations regarding the unauthorized issuance of passports to members of the Grace Road Group. This step is taken to clarify whether the Fiji Police Force or the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption will lead the investigation.

In a related development, Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua, has expressed his intention to temporarily step aside from his duties to facilitate the inquiry. He is also awaiting guidance from the Prime Minister after informing him of his decision.
