Fiji’s Outsourcing Industry Set for Transformation: What’s Next?

Outsource Fiji is advocating for stricter regulations and the establishment of a one-stop shop to enhance the outsourcing industry. This initiative is part of its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan, which aims to transform the sector into a vital contributor to job creation and economic advancement in Fiji.

Executive Director Josefa Wivou emphasized that the new plan focuses on skills development, aggressive marketing of the industry, and improved governance. By adopting this approach, Outsource Fiji aims to offer a wider array of services while ensuring accountability and sustainable growth.

Wivou noted the importance of engaging with graduates from neighboring countries, stating, “We must invest more effort locally, making use of our regional connections.” He also remarked on the long-standing support from industry stakeholders for a more coordinated and regulated framework.

These efforts come on the heels of a $1.2 million budget allocation from the Fijian Government, as announced in the 2024-2025 National Budget. Morika Hunter, President of Outsource Fiji, expressed appreciation for this funding, which is intended to create more job opportunities and address issues related to labor migration. Hunter has previously highlighted the need for raising awareness about the potential of the outsourcing industry and emphasized the importance of partnerships with local businesses.

The strategic push not only aims to strengthen Fiji’s global outsourcing position but also envisions the sector becoming a major employment source in the coming years. With a commitment to upskill the workforce and ensure adherence to international standards, the optimism surrounding Fiji’s outsourcing industry continues to grow.
