Fiji’s Immigration Department has successfully reopened its online passport application portal after being closed for several months. Individuals wishing to apply for new passports or renew their existing ones can now do so through the website at https://www.immigration.gov.fj/online-application/.
In a move to accommodate the surge in applications, which has increased significantly, the Ministry of Immigration announced that starting from December 1, 2025, it will enhance the number of daily appointment slots available on the Online Passport Application Portal across all Immigration Offices. This initiative aims to facilitate easier access for applicants and to simultaneously decrease waiting times.
Despite the changes, the Ministry has confirmed that its no walk-in policy will remain in effect. However, exceptions may be made for genuine emergencies or special circumstances that warrant immediate attention.
To further tackle peak demand, the Suva Immigration Office will extend its operating hours from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from December 1 to December 12, 2025. Other immigration offices will maintain their regular hours. Importantly, all urgent application requests should be submitted through the online portal to guarantee prioritized processing.
The Ministry emphasizes that these new measures are part of its ongoing commitment to enhance efficiency and deliver a reliable, customer-centered passport service for all Fijians. This revitalized approach not only seeks to address the backlog caused by high demand but also reflects the Ministry’s determination to streamline passport services moving forward.
