Olympic silver medalist Ponipate Loganimasi is set to make his full debut for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians in their opening match of the Europe Tour against Scotland on Sunday. Loganimasi, who recently showcased his skills by coming off the bench and scoring two tries during Fiji’s victory over Japan in the Pacific Nations Cup, will take the position of left wing in the starting lineup.

Joining him as potential debutants are the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua backline players Kemueli Valetini and Waqa Nalaga, both of whom have been named among the reserves. Coach Mick Byrne has assembled a robust starting team, featuring Haereiti Hetet, Captain Tevita Ikanivere, and Samuela Tawake in the front row. The locks will be Isoa Nasilasila and Ratu Leone Rotuisolia, while Ratu Meli Derenalagi and Kitione Salawa will serve as blindside and openside flankers, respectively. Elia Canakaivata is slated to play at Number 8.

In the halves, Frank Lomani and Caleb Muntz will steer the game, with Loganimasi and Vuate Karawalevu bringing their speed to the wings. The midfield partnership will consist of Inia Tabuavou and Apisalome Vota, and the youthful Isaiah Armstrong-Ravula will feature at fullback. The reserves include Mesulame Dolokoto, Livai Natave, Jone Koroiduadua, Mesake Vocevoce, Vilive Miramira, and Simi Kuruvoli alongside Nalaga and Valetini.

The match against Scotland will take place at Murrayfield at 5:40 AM on Sunday, providing an exciting opportunity for Fiji’s emerging talents to shine on an international stage.
