The Prime Minister urged citizens to reflect on the experiences of 2024, a year he labeled as one of resilience, seeking inspiration from the nation’s growth while preparing for forthcoming challenges. He expressed appreciation for civil servants, first responders, and defense forces for their unwavering dedication during the past year. Additionally, Rabuka acknowledged the contributions of Fiji’s international missions to bolster the nation’s global standing.
Addressing the political turmoil of recent years, Rabuka reaffirmed the government’s commitment to healing and reconciliation through the establishment of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which he underscored as essential for fostering forgiveness and national unity.
The Prime Minister also prioritized poverty alleviation, introducing the government’s “one village at a time” approach aimed at enhancing livelihoods. He highlighted the Coalition Government’s initiatives, which involve substantial investments in housing, sanitation, and infrastructure, designed to lay the groundwork for sustained economic and social development.
