A new Wellbeing Centre dedicated to assisting street dwellers and troubled youth has been announced by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. The Ministry for Women, Children and Social Protection is at the helm of this initiative, collaborating with various stakeholders, including vocational schools and faith-based organizations, to create sustainable pathways for those in need. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of vocational training, allowing street dwellers to acquire practical skills that would lead to greater independence.
Mr. Rabuka also stated that this initiative addresses broader social challenges such as drug use, crime, and HIV. Collaboration among government agencies is being fostered to ensure that personnel are adequately prepared to handle complex situations. Additionally, partnerships with civil society organizations and businesses aim to provide essential items like clothing and bedding to those requiring immediate assistance.
