California State University forward Talei Moodie has caught the attention of the Fiji Young Kulas coaching staff ahead of their opening match in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup against Brazil. Moodie joined the squad in Medellin, Colombia on Wednesday and has swiftly adapted to her new teammates.
Coaches have praised her strong work ethic and her ability to adjust both on and off the ball. Assistant Coach Anette Nainima commented on Moodie’s potential, stating, “Talei has shown great promise in training. Her ability to read the game and her readiness to take on any required role are essential as we prepare for a challenging opponent like Brazil.”
Moodie shared her enthusiasm about being part of the team, saying, “I’m really happy to be here and grateful for the chance to train with such a dedicated and welcoming group. I look forward to making a contribution to the team, especially as we approach this crucial match against Brazil.”
She also emphasized the significance of representing Fiji, stating, “Representing Fiji means I’m not just representing the country, but my family—my grandparents, aunts, uncles, and my mom. Growing up in the United States, my mom ensured I was connected to Fijian culture, and I want to deepen my ties to my heritage.”
The addition of Moodie is viewed as a valuable enhancement to the team’s ambitions as they aim to leave their mark on the world stage. The Young Kulas’ match against Brazil is set to begin at 11 AM.
