The South Sea Cruises Group is set to unveil its new service, “South Sea Cats,” featuring Fiji’s latest resort transfer service and two half-day snorkeling adventures. The fast catamarans, designed in New Zealand and constructed in Fiji, are expected to launch early in the upcoming year, aiming to enhance island travel by providing more resort transfer options as well as sightseeing excursions for snorkeling enthusiasts.

These new vessels, each measuring approximately 14.9 meters and capable of reaching speeds of 22 knots, will accommodate up to 40 passengers. They will offer morning transfers to Tokoriki and Matamanoa Islands, along with early evening trips to resorts on Malolo and Castaway Islands. Notably, guests will also have the opportunity to enjoy Fiji’s first inflatable slide on a commercial vessel.

According to Sanjeshni Nand, a sales executive at South Sea Cruises Group, this initiative aims to support local communities in the Yasawas and Mamanucas, where transportation can be challenging. The service also promises a shorter, yet fulfilling snorkeling experience, allowing guests to explore various spots and return to port within three to three and a half hours.

Pricing for these excursions will start at approximately $159 for the morning trip and around $200 for the full experience, which includes an inclusive buffet or light bites. Families will find these trips appealing as they cater to both adults and children. Corporate groups are also encouraged to tailor their experience, creating exclusive trips to better enjoy Fiji’s natural beauty.

Nand mentioned that locals can benefit from a year-round discount of 20 percent by presenting valid identification. With rising demand, it is advisable for customers to book their trips in advance, especially those arriving from overseas.

Loretta St Julian-Ooms, General Manager of Fiji and Asia Sales, highlighted the strategic location of their departure point at Port Denarau, just 20 minutes from Nadi International Airport. This accessibility enhances the appeal of the South Sea sailing day trips, providing an exquisite experience for groups seeking relaxation or adventure.

This initiative not only enriches Fiji’s vibrant tourism industry but also fosters connections within local communities, ensuring that both visitors and locals alike can create unforgettable memories amid stunning landscapes and engaging adventures.

As tourism continues to gain momentum, the introduction of South Sea Cats serves as a hopeful sign of revitalization in the region.
