The Public Service Commission has made significant appointments, confirming Berenado Kolinio Daveta as the new Permanent Secretary for Policing and Aliki Vuli Salusalu as the Permanent Secretary for Immigration. These appointments received the Prime Minister’s endorsement.

Berenado Daveta, who officially began his role on May 13, 2025, brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as the Director of Special Branch in the Fiji Police Force and Chief of Staff, along with operational duties as Force Contingent Commander for the UN Mission in Darfur, Sudan. Currently, he also serves as a Senior Consultant with the United Nations Development Programme in Suva.

On the other hand, Aliki Vuli Salusalu is expected to take on his new responsibilities in mid-June. He has a background in IT and engineering, having served as the Director of ITC Services for the Fiji Government from 2007 to 2012 and has experience as a Counsellor at the Fiji Diplomatic Mission in Abu Dhabi.

This leadership transition is timely, occurring alongside other recent governmental shifts aimed at strengthening Fiji’s governance structure. The appointments are seen as a proactive approach to enhance security and public service delivery, with a hopeful outlook for improved governance in Fiji. The emphasis on local expertise in these key roles signifies a commitment to address the evolving challenges within the nation and to ensure a stable and effective administration moving forward.
